Types of MP3 playersThe MP3 players nowadays are classified into four general types which are flash-based players, hard-drive based players, micro hard-drive based players and MP3 CD players.
The first type is the flash-based MP3 players that are popular for being very small as they built-in flash memory chip. The music capacities of flash-based players are from 32MB to 2 GB. The flash-based MP3 players are very handy and suitable for active lifestyles or sport-based activities without the hassle of music skipping. Brands and models under this type include iPod Shuffle, iRiver iFP and Creative Muvo. However, this type of MP3 players is very expensive.
Hard-drive based MP3 players utilized a 1.8-inch hard disk drive to store music. This MP3 player can hold huge music library as its storage is usually more than 10GB. However, due to the presence of hard disk drive, the player is not intended to be used in rough or active activities. Apple iPod is one example of this type of MP3 player.
Micro hard-drive based MP3 players are the more compact or smaller version of hard-drive based MP3 players with storage capacity of about 4 to 5 GB. Some common examples of micro-based MP3 players are iPod Mini, Creative Zen Micro and Rio Carbon.
MP3 CD players are another type of MP3 player which uses a compact disk to play music. The user can store around 150 MP3 songs per disk however; this player is quite larger and has the biggest tendency to skip since its uses a disk which is prone to scratches and sensitive to shaking or any sudden movements.
