The iRiver T30 MP3 player has a compressed style design and comes with a space for AAA battery for long playback period. Although this higher model of iRiver MP3 player is very similar to the previous iRiver MP3 player models, its voice and line-in recording with microphone-jack socket is placed right alongside the earphone socket and it has a bung-covered mini USB port and compulsory necklace connector. The rationalized attractions of this new iRiver MP3 player are its support for subscription music downloads and its affordable price.

This iRiver MP3 player has a roughly triangular in cross-section with rounded corner design at 64 x 32 x 22 mm and weighing 27g. The operation of previous iRiver MP3 players is somewhat complex but the T30 iRiver MP3 player has a moderately straightforward user interface. The iRiver T30 MP3 player supports MP3, OGG, and DRM-protected WMA files, together with those downloaded music from subscription services such as Napster To Go and Yahoo Music Unlimited.

The T30 iRiver MP3 player offers SRS effects, a five-band user-defined EQ, and the ability to control playback speed for high audio quality and performance. The iRiver MP3 player has high-quality music sound and comes with a set of decent headphones and earbuds that provide better-than-expected bass response.

The iRiver T30 MP3 Player claims 24 hours of continuous playback on an AAA battery and with transfer speed of 1.67MB per second over a USB 2.0 connection. However, the iRiver MP3 player has no FM tuner feature which most portable music player should contain for more adequate options in buying mp3 players.
