In fact with increase of their capacity they have a great future. They store music files on internal or external media called memory cards that extend their memory. Mp3 players appeared as a real revolution in the portable music world - small size (about a pack of cards), easy to use (freandly interfaces with several buttons and a wheel), convenient (easy to carry and easy to store), large capacity (several GBs) and comparatively high quality of music resulted in that they eventually replaced portable CD players and walkman devices.
